Welcome to Children

children

“Let the little children come to Me, and don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”                                                                                          Luke 18:16

Children in Worship

Children are very welcome at all services at St Stephen & St Mary.

The Contemporary Eucharist service held at 10.30am each Sunday is particularly suited to families and children.

We have a children’s nook located in the narthex stocked with toys, books and simple craft items for families with babies & toddlers. Pre-schoolers & primary age children are welcome to attend our Sunday School located in the old church & held concurrently with the church service.

Mainly Music

St Stephen and St Mary started a mainly music Program in 2015. This is a music program that offers parents and other carers an opportunity to spend time with their children enjoying music together, and also providing an environment for meeting other parents and carers.

Mainly Music runs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10.30am – noon, during school terms and the cost is just $5 per family.

We welcome families who have pre-schoolers: please contact Becky Sims on 0438 013 000 or 9807 3168 to register for Mainly Music!

Approx 35 families come along regularly across both sessions.

We also have special days, such as our annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic, Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day celebrations throughout the year and a Mainly Music Nativity Service.

Volunteers

The program is run by volunteers from the parish who provide outreach into the community to show God’s love and care as Jesus would. We have more than twenty people on the team who assist with greeting families, assisting with the music, and providing morning tea for the children and their carers.

All volunteers have a current police check and a Working with Children card.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the program leader, Becky Sims, on 0438 013 000 or via the Parish Office on 9807 3168.

Working with Children

The safety and security of children is of paramount importance: to ensure that children in the care of staff and volunteers at the Parish of St Stephen and St Mary are kept safe at all times, the organisation has a policy on working with children which is in line with the requirements of the diocese.
